Day 14: $5M in 90 Days With AI — What I Learned

I challenged myself to build an entirely new business from scratch using AI. No dev team. $400 in software costs. Launch at day 14. Here's what the first two weeks actually taught me.

The Challenge I Set for Myself

After this step: you understand what's actually possible when you combine real business experience with current AI tools

Eight years running physical product businesses. I know what it takes to scale from zero. But right now you can build an entirely new business from scratch with AI doing most of the heavy lifting. I wanted to test exactly how true that is. So I challenged myself: start completely over, enter a brand new category, build with AI — no large dev team, no months of runway before launch.

$400 Total AI Spend for 14 days of building
$200 Monthly Tool Cost only subscription needed

Why Software?

Physical product businesses have real constraints: inventory, logistics, shipping, returns. Software has none of those. When you can build software with AI as a non-developer, the economics become extraordinary. The margins are different. The speed is different. The scalability is different.

💡

The Target: $5M in 90 Days

Aggressive. Maybe impossible. But the goal isn't just the number. The goal is to see what's actually achievable when you combine eight years of business experience with the AI tools available right now in 2026.

Lesson 1: Someone Has to Be the Decision Maker

After this step: you understand the founder's actual role in an AI-powered build — and why it's irreplaceable

You cannot rely on AI to make decisions or build anything on its own. You need someone to delegate, direct, and push it forward. This was the most important thing confirmed in the first two weeks.

Without a Decision Maker

  • Technically competent but strategically aimless
  • AI makes reasonable choices that go nowhere
  • No prioritization — AI does everything equally
  • Output that doesn't move the business forward

With Human Direction

  • Every build decision is strategic
  • AI executes, founder steers
  • Ruthless prioritization of what matters
  • Output that maps directly to business goals

What Decision Making Looks Like Day-to-Day

  • Every morning: What's the most important thing to build today?
  • Review and course correct: What did AI build yesterday? What's off?
  • Judgment calls: Product direction decisions AI can't make on its own
  • When "good enough" is good enough: Move forward, don't polish forever
  • Ruthless prioritization: AI can do a hundred things — you pick the ten that matter
"AI is the engine. You're the driver. Your experience, your judgment, your understanding of the market — that's what steers it. Without it, you get competent output that's strategically aimless."

Lesson 2: What Used to Take Months Now Takes Days

After this step: you fully grasp what the current AI tools actually make possible — not hype, reality

Two years ago, it would take a developer a week just to edit something on a website. In this build: a full website with AI functionality in one week. With a $200 subscription. As a non-developer. That sentence deserves to sit for a second.

  • 1 week just to edit a website
  • 3-6 months to build a software product
  • $50-150K in developer costs
  • Technical barrier required a team

Right Now in 2026

  • 1 week to build a full website with AI features
  • Days to build functional software products
  • $200/month — no dev team
  • Plain English — no technical skills needed
🔑

The Window Is Right Now

The technical barrier to building software is gone. The cost and time required have dropped by 90%+. The opportunity to build before everyone else figures this out is right now — not next year.

Day 14 — Launch Day

After this step: you understand what happens at launch and why day 15 matters more than day 1

Day 14 is launch day. The product is live. And now the real work begins — the same work that's been done with physical businesses for eight years: getting customers, testing what works, scaling what does.

The difference this time: all the AI systems built for previous businesses plug directly into this new one on day one. The media buying agents. The customer service agents. The analytics. The creative pipeline. Systems that took years to build, running from launch day.

DAY 1-7

Build the product with AI

DAY 8-13

Plug in existing AI agent systems

DAY 14

Launch — product live, systems running

DAY 15+

Acquire customers, test, scale what works

5

The AI System Library Advantage

After this step: you understand why the systems you build today compound into a permanent competitive moat

Every agent system you build becomes an asset you own. When you start a new project, you're not starting from zero. You're plugging in proven systems and adapting them. Your tenth business launch will be dramatically faster and cheaper than your first.

"The compounding advantage of building AI systems properly: you build them once, refine them over time, and they're yours forever. Every new business benefits from everything you've already built."
💡

Build the Library Now

Every system you build this year — ad monitoring, email optimization, customer service, creative production — is an asset that compounds. Start now. The earlier you build the library, the bigger the moat becomes.

6

Your Zero-to-One Plan

Go from "I've been thinking about this" to a live AI-built product

You don't need 90 days. You don't need a dev team. You need a clear problem to solve, a $200 subscription, and the willingness to make decisions fast.

  • Pick the category — what problem are you solving? For who?
  • Get Claude Code — $20-200/month depending on the plan
  • Define your daily decision rhythm — what's the most important thing to build today?
  • Build the MVP — minimum viable product in plain English, iterating daily
  • Set a launch date — pressure creates focus. 14 days is enough.
  • Plug in your existing AI systems — don't rebuild what you already have
  • Launch and start the real work — customers, testing, scaling
